Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 & Interceptor 650 Launch

Royal Enfield has announced the launch of the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in India on 14 November 2018.

The is a modern-classic café racer. It features a tear-drop fuel tank, clip-on handlebars and a single seat. The is a neo-retro roadster with a timeless design and a modern heart. The motorcycle features a circular headlamp, round fuel tank, wide handlebar, long single-piece and chopped fenders at the front and back.



The engine is mated to Royal Enfield’s first 6-speed gearbox, with a standard slip-assist clutch. Both the bikes get power from an all-new 648 cc, parallel-twin cylinder, SOHC, oil-cooled, 8-valve engine that generates 52 Nm of peak torque at 5,200 rpm along with 47 bhp of maximum power at 7,100 rpm.


The tyres of the 650 twins are not radial units. Anchorage is assisted by a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear rotor with standard dual-channel ABS. Both the bikes get 18-inch wire-spoke wheels wrapped in 100-section front and 130-section rear tube-type Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres.

The has a fuel tank capacity of 13.7-litre and with a kerb weight of 202 kg whereas the gets a 12.5-litre fuel tank and has a kerb weight of 197 kg. They also come with 41 mm telescopic front forks, steel tubular double cradle chassis and twin gas-charged rear shock absorbers. Both the 650 twins are expected to cost between INR 2.50-3 lakh (ex-showroom).

In September, both the Royal Enfield 650 Twins were launched in the USA. The prices start at USD 5,799 (INR 4.27 lakh) onwards, while the costs USD 5,999 (INR 4.42 lakh) in America.
